New and exciting leaks regarding Apple’s technology roadmap indicate a significant step in the company’s mixed reality headset plans. According to recent claims by reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the tech giant aims to introduce a lighter and more affordable mixed reality headset called the Apple Vision Air in 2027. This new model could appeal to a much broader audience than the current Vision Pro, which has a $3,500 price tag.
Apple Vision Air: Half the Price, 40% Lighter
According to leaks, the Apple Vision Air will launch at approximately $1,750. This is almost half the price of the current model. Besides the price, the most notable improvement is reportedly in weight. Compared to the Vision Pro, which weighed approximately 600-650 grams, the Vision Air is expected to be 40% lighter, making it much more comfortable to wear. With this move, Apple is estimated to aim to sell 1 million Vision Air units by 2027.
While a more affordable model will likely be available until 2027, an updated version of the current Vision Pro may also be on the horizon. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple may unveil a new Vision Pro model before the end of the year.
This new model will reportedly be powered by the much more powerful “M4” processor, rather than the current M2 processor. A redesigned head strap is also expected to be included with the new model to improve comfort during extended use.
New Apple Products on the Way
Apple’s innovations won’t be limited to mixed reality headsets. Other products the company will introduce in the near future are also eagerly anticipated in the tech world:
- iPhone 17 Series: Four new iPhone models, expected to be unveiled on September 9th.
- Apple Watch Family: The Apple Watch Ultra 3, Apple Watch Series 11, and Apple Watch SE 3 are expected to be unveiled alongside the iPhones.
- AirTag 2: The long-awaited second-generation tracking device may also make an appearance at the September event. Macs with M5 Processors: It’s rumored that Apple may release new iPad Pro, iMac, Mac mini, and MacBook Pro models powered by the M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max processors towards the end of the year. No design changes are expected for these devices.
- Other Devices: The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, the second-generation HomePod mini, and the highly anticipated AirPods Pro 3 are also likely to be unveiled by the end of the year.
Apple’s ambitious roadmap demonstrates that the company aims to both strengthen its existing product line and reach a wider audience with new categories like the Vision Air.
